Real Life Philippines

What it is like to live in the Philippines, from expats who actually live in the Philippines.

Are you thinking about moving to the Philippines full-time? We’ve done the homework for you.

A lot of people think it is a perfectly wonderful idea to move to or retire in the Philippines. For some, this would be an ideal place to live. However, before you make that huge committment, you probably want to do a little research first. Find out what you are getting yourself into. Well, the best way to do that is to get the truth from expats who actually live here.

About Us

My name is Gary and I am from New Jersey in the United States. I have been living in the Philippines since 2005.

Of all the sites, about visiting and moving to the Philippines, very few of them focus on what life is really like for an expat living in the Philippines.  Many of the other sites only focus on living in one area of the Philippines or one aspect of living here. At Real Life Philippines (RLP), we try to give a broader overview, while touching on specific places and aspects of living here.

Where do our contributors live?

Real Life Philippines (RLP) is owned by one person, but we have several major contributors from all over the Philippines.

With that being said we would love to add more contributors. If you are interested in joining our team, feel free to reach out.

National Capital Region (NCR)

More or less known as ‘Manila’, the National Capital Region (NCR) is comprised of sixteen different cities. Needless to say, it is usually the first place expats visit.

The Visayas is extremely popular with expats because of the beaches and several popular locations such as, Cebu, Dumaguete, Boracay, Bohol, and so on.

Probably the most popular with expats due to locations such as Manila, Subic, Angeles, Baguio, Cavite, and its close proximity to Mindoro (Puerto Galera).

The southern most islands of the Philippines containing weell-known locations such as, Davao, General Santos, Surigao, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, etc.
